Wimmer Performance goes completely wild: Porsche 997 GT2 RS with 1020 bhp!

Wimmer Performance has got quite a big reputation in the tuning scene. A good reason for the tuner to modify the limited Porsche 997 GT2 RS, a car which actually doesn’t need any extra power.

The 997 GT2 RS already has 620 bhp in standard form. That’s more than the Carrera GT, a car which already is a legend. For Wimmer Performance that was the reason to see what’s possible with the boxer-engine. The tuner has some real experts on their list of workers. First they boosted the pressure of the Wimmer turbo’s, and that’s just the beginning. The list of modifications includes the timing belt, cylinder heads, pistons, drive rod, fuel pomp, and the catalysors. All those things together produce a whopping 1020 bhp and 1108 Nm. The car can’t get all the power on the road on the sprint to 62, so that takes 3.4 seconds. Very fast, but still relatively slow for cars with power above 1000 bhp. The sprint to 180 mph (300 km/h) is much more fun, it takes just 15.5 seconds! That almost makes it a worthy competitor for the Buggati Veyron 16.4. Wimmer Performance think the top speed is about 240 mph. To make this very special GT2 RS look special, Cam Shaft gave it a cool wrap.
