Villa d'Este 2013: the concept cars & supercars

Next to the really big stars, there are also some ‘normal’ stars on the Villa d’Este. Including the McLaren P1, New Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante and BMW Coupe Zagato. We also saw the crossover-concept of Subaru named the Viviz and the Infiniti EMERG-e, which has to be very economical with its fluent lines.

We start off with the McLaren P1. The car that has to compete with the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. This car can be found in Italy. Just like in Geneva, it’s yellow and very outstanding. It’s the fastest car on Villa d’Este thanks to its 900 hp. The fluent lines are way more exotic than the design of the LaFerrari or the businesslike Porsche 918 Spyder. A car which has just as fluent lines as the P1 is the BMW Coupe Zagato, a car which is also present this year.

The BMW Coupe Zagato is one of the most special creations on this year’s Villa d’Este, just like last year. Together with the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé it’s an interesting study by Zagato regarding their vision on the BMW Z4. We can find the well-known double bubble on the roof and the lines are way more fluent than the lines of the original BMW Z4. Everything is about a high top speed and they tried to minimize the air resistance. The air resistance is also a very important factor with the Infiniti EMERG-e.

The Infiniti EMERG-e is a herald of the green way the brand wants to go in the upcoming years. The fluent lined car looks just like a silver bullet, and it’s almost just as fast. After four seconds you’ve reached 100 kph and the action range of the car is around 500 kilometers. Quite interesting, because this type of drive is the future. Despite that, we don’t have to hope for a production model of the Infinite EMERG-e, because that isn’t coming. The brand, which is part of Nissan, does show us what they can do on the field of electric driving.

The Subaru Viviz is a crossover-concept which doesn’t only show the future in the design of Subaru, but it also shows the looks of the new crossover they are planning to make after the Trebica. The name comes from “Vision for Innovation” and we are very curious what innovation Subaru will present with this car. Because we already see a lot of good looking crossover-concepts every year.

Finally, we have a well-known car. We already saw this car in Geneva and the looks haven’t changed. It’s still a mix of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, where the engine comes from. This means that it produces 450 hp and an amazing sound, but the looks of the car aren’t that amazing. It’s a mix of several components and that doesn’t result in a fantastic looking car, or do you like it?
