Topspot: Porsche 996 GT1

We never get bored seeing spots of certain cars, like this Porsche 996 GT1. This is the "street version" of the famous 911 GT1 ’98. This particular Porsche holds a very special place in the heart of the Stuttgart sports car company and race fans around the world. The actual winning car from the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours scored the most recent of the unrivaled tally of 16 outright victories achieved by Porsche in the famous French endurance racing event.

In order to compete in Le Mans, Porsche had to build a minimum of 25 street legal versions of the car. This is one of those Porsche 996 GT1 'Straßenversion'. The result was bizar and the car is lighter than a modern compact car. Under the hood we find a 3.2 liter 6-cylinder boxer engine that produces 545 hp. The twin turbo engine gets you from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (300 km/h). If you don't like the nose of the car, there are a couple made with a 993 nose, and unfortunately none of these have ever been spotted on our site. The other extreme car, the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG, has been spotted on our site as well, and we never get bored seeing a spot of that car either.

Porsche 996 GT1 gaat nooit vervelen
