Topspot: First spot of the McLaren 720S

McLaren's latest creation, the 720S, is creating high expectations among car enthousiast. The bar was already set high with the previous series, so it will be difficult to raise the bar even higher. But from what we've seen and heard it appears that McLaren once again succeeded. We can't wait to see the first independent test results and we expect to see them soon, especially now that the first spot has been posted on our site.

We've already discussed the technology of the 720S, so let's talk about the design of this new McLaren. We are not sure how to describe it, mean, sexy, monstrous...or, beautiful. McLaren tells us that each component of the design has a purpose. The focus of the exterior design is aerodynamics, and everything is designed to move the air around the car as efficiently as possible. This counts for the "questionable" design of the headlight socket as well. I personally like the socket, but there are many critics that have no good word to say about it. The car's design is missing the side air intakes and McLaren created some nifty elements in the door to make sure that air is moving towards the engine. The doors raise differently than its predecessors and allows for better entry and exit of the car, and as a bonus it is a lot slimmer and allows to park this car in tighter parking spots. The rear appears wider than it actually is, and the LED rear lights are slim and help to create that wider visual effect. The rear wing's size is the full width of the rear section of the 720S and the engine bay has a "nightlight" to show off the engine that produces the, now famous, 720 HP.
