Nissan GT-R successor comes in 2018

Nissan GT-R successor comes in 2018

Nobody knew whether the current supercar of Nissan, the GT-R, would get a successor or not. Now Nissan gave the green light for the development of a successor. You don’t need to run to the dealer immediately, you will have to wait till 2018 before the successor will be available.

First, Nissan tries to develop the current generation of the GT-R into the perfect Japanese supercar. Next year, the GT-R is in production for already six years. The car will get a major facelift for the first time. The most important details of this facelift are a changed front bumper and changed rear of the car. The following rendering from Insideline gives an impression of what we can expect of this facelift.

The second generation of the GT-R which will be introduced in 2018 will come three years later than everybody expected. This is partly due to health problems of the head of development, Kazutoshi Mizuno. He left the company for a short time but meanwhile he is back and working on the future of Nissan. With a look at the future, Nissan keeps an eye on the development of the Acura NSX. This will be a hybrid sports car and this is a very interesting development for Nissan. Partly because the Acura NSX will be faster than the GT-R on the Nürburgring.
