Jaguar Freddie Owen Special is a historical car

You don’t have to be ashamed if you never heard about the Jaguar Freddie Owen Special. We didn’t know the model either, not only because of the fact that only two copies were ever built. Despite this, there is a lot of history around the car, which marks out that this car is a hotchpotch of former Jaguar-models.

The model origins in 1958. Freddie Owens was a coachbuilder at that time, who had the plans for building a car specially built for hillclimb racing. The front came from the E-Type, the drivetrain from the XK140 and the wheels from the D-Type. This all was molten into one reasonably good-looking creation, with the roof built later on. This because Freddie Owen also added a roll cage to the car. The aim of this design was creating a low air resistance and drag car. The car still looks good 55 years after, that’s because Lynx Engineering restored this car back in the eighties. It’s great that this historic model is spotted again, we’ve learned something about this pretty unknown model. How many of these forgotten pearls will be spotted next ?
