Was the mysterious F12berlinetta the new Ferrari California?

About two weeks ago we posted a Ferrari F12berlinetta in camouflage which was spotted out of nothing. We speculated about a special model based on the F12berlinetta, but now we changed our ideas. This car could be a mule, made to test the new Ferrari California.

The Ferrari California can be found on the streets of every continent since 2008, which makes it the oldest model Ferrari offers at the moment. A new Gran Turismo-Ferrari wouldn’t be the strangest thing to expect. We expect the new California to have a lot more sharp lines, which will make the car more masculine. It will have the styling of the current models, from the 458 Italia to the LaFerrari, so all models have a similar face. Sharp headlights, sharp lines and an aggressive face will make this car recognizable as a Ferrari. When it comes to the California kind of missed the boat, but assumably, this is going to change.

Of course more things are going to change. Ferrari is known for coming up for progressive technology, the rumors say Ferrari will introduce a new twin-turbo V8 on the California. When it comes to power it will be between the 458 Italia and 458 Scuderia. When the car will be presented, we don’t know, but it’s possible that it comes together with the 458 Scuderia, but possibly even before that. Does Ferrari have a surprise for us at the IAA in Frankfurt coming September?
