In contrast to the Detomaso P72, which more closely resembles an old Le Mans Detomaso, this car from Ares Design evokes memories of the classic Detomaso Pantera. Although this vehicle was presented some time ago, a fully finished model has yet to appear. However, that is about to change...
Modena is known for being home to some of the most renowned automakers, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, and Maserati. Ares Design also has its headquarters in Modena. As a relatively new vehicle manufacturer, Ares Design introduces motorcycles, e-scooters, hypercars, restomod cars, and even SUVs to the market. Occasionally, the company presents new concepts that are steadily refined over several years before finally entering the production process. We had to wait a few years for the Panther ProgettoUno, but finally, one of these vehicles appeared in Milan, the city of Italian concept cars.
For this vehicle, a high-quality donor car was, of course, necessary, and a Lamborghini Huracan was actually chosen. Despite these modifications, the 4.67 meters long, 1.98 meters wide, and 1.19 meters high two-seater still closely follows the design of its historical predecessor, enhanced with a large front spoiler, wide flared side sills, and impressive wheels. In terms of dimensions, the Ares Panther surpasses its base car in length by ten centimeters – four in the front overhang and six in the rear. To maintain the proportions, the windshield has been moved ten centimeters backward.
Originally, only 21 units of the Panther ProgettoUno were planned. However, many things have changed in the last five years of planning, so this number may no longer be accurate. Ares Design initially set the price at $400,000 plus country-specific taxes. However, the donor car must be added on top. If a customer wants to have the Pantera reborn based on a brand-new Huracan in their garage, they will have to spend at least around $700,000. It is quite likely that the Italians will add another layer to the Panther model.
