Monaco attracts cars that every nitwit can recognize as ‘special’ or ‘quick’, just by exterior parts like the exhausts and ride height. That is what distinguishes the average Monaco-visitor from the hard-boiled car spotter. As opposed to cars like the Bugatti Veyron and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, the following Aston Martin is a real rarity.

The spot count concerning this V8 Vantage Le Mans has grown with only eight unique copies since the beginning of the website. Emil happened to spot the first one while visiting Paris, seven years ago. The owner turned out to be the president of Equatorial Guinea, against who an investigation was started because of widespread fraud and deception. Each of the numerous exotic cars he had stalled in his secret parking garage in Avenue Foch have in the meanwhile been impounded.

This story doesn’t alter the fact that the 1999 V8 Le Mans is a legendary car. It’s a homage to the well-known race in France, which was then won by Aston Martin forty years earlier. For that reason, this special car is produced in a limited edition of only 40 copies! The car shows its strength through extra thick bumpers and massive air intakes. Under the bonnet, a V8 is installed which guarantees 550 or even 600 BHP. An impressive top speed of 320 km/h and an exorbitant price of 230.000 British pounds were the result. Nowadays, this supercar from 1999 may be worth even more money. What’s for sure is that this V8 Le Mans is a pur sang future classic that will be nurtured by every single Aston Martin-collector that is able to lay his hands on it.
