A Rare Sighting: The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione

Only a very few were built, and only a handful roam the roads. Logically, you almost never see it. This is only the 14th spot here on Autogespot.

The idea of preparing the Daytona for racing stemmed from the success of the production model. The 365 GTB/4 was renowned for its high performance and impressive design.
The 365 GTB/4 Competizione was powered by a 4.4-liter V12 engine that produced an impressive 450 horsepower or more, enabling a top speed of over 290 km/h. The Competizione versions were often lightly modified to reduce weight and enhance aerodynamics. This could involve changes to the front and rear sections, wider fenders, and special spoilers, just like this one with an added spoiler.
These modified Daytona models were used in various racing events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring. They achieved several victories and contributed to the legend of the Daytona.

Only a limited number of Competizione versions were produced, and they are extremely rare and sought after today. Their rarity and racing history make them coveted collector's items. There were only 23 units that left Ferrari's factory, built in three series of five units each. Eight more were built by Ferrari alongside the official series.
The Daytona Competizione achieved significant success in racing during the 1970s, including class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona.
This stunning example was finished in a beautiful dark red and was seen for the very first time. Presumably, it was at Ferrari for some reason, as it was spotted in Maranello, the headquarters of Ferrari.
