Many car tuners often do an incredibly poor job. It's usually a massive DIY project and patchwork job. Often, appearance takes precedence over quality. But that's not the case with RUF. When RUF gets its hands on a Porsche, an enhanced version of the 911 emerges, which is even more impressive than the standard model.
A RUF isn't always immediately recognizable. Sometimes, there are only minor external changes. Perhaps you can identify it most easily by the wheels and the emblem at the rear. However, the real difference lies in the engine! RUF has always been known for performance enhancements, and the 930 Turbo is no exception. RUF modified the 3.3-liter six-cylinder boxer engine of the Porsche 911 Turbo to significantly boost its power.
The exact power output of the RUF 930 Turbo could vary depending on the model year and customer preferences. Generally, though, it delivered significantly more than the standard 300 horsepower of the Porsche 911 Turbo. Some RUF 930 models even achieved power outputs exceeding 400 horsepower.
Thanks to this increase in power, the RUF 930 Turbo could achieve impressive acceleration figures. The 0-60 mph time often clocked in at well under 5 seconds. The RUF 930 Turbo was based on the Porsche 911 Turbo (Type 930), produced in the 1970s and 1980s. RUF is an independent German tuning company specializing in modifying Porsche vehicles. The exact number produced is not known, but only very few 930 Turbos were, of course, converted.
By the way, this specimen, which first appeared in Monaco, still looks breathtakingly beautiful. It was configured in an exclusive brown hue, which is quite rare.
