Did you know that Bugatti has a long tradition of Supersport cars? The Chiron Super Sport joins the ranks of famous Bugatti predecessors. Bugatti first unveiled the Type 55 Super Sport in 1931 at the Paris Motor Show. This Grand Tourer combined pure racing car technology with the comfort of a sophisticated two-seater. Powered by a supercharged 2.3-liter eight-cylinder engine, the Type 55 Super Sport produced up to 160 horsepower and accelerated to over 180 km/h. Some of the body versions were designed by the young and talented Jean Bugatti, and only 38 vehicles were manufactured until 1935. Bugatti brought the next version of the Super Sport to life between 1993 and 1995. The EB 110 Super Sport saw a production of 39 units. The EB 110 was once again characterized by lightweight construction, performance, luxury, and exclusivity, making it the best Supersport car of its time. It was the first Supersport car with a carbon fiber body, all-wheel drive, and four turbochargers. The V12 turbocharged engine produced over 610 horsepower and set several records in the EB 110 Super Sport, including a top speed of 351 km/h.

Two decades later, Bugatti revived the Super Sport once more. The 1,200 horsepower Veyron 16.4 Super Sport broke the speed record in 2010, reaching an astonishing speed of 431.2 km/h, earning its place in the Guinness World Records as the fastest street-legal production sports car in the world – a record it held for many years. This Veyron model featured NACA ducts instead of the typical large air intakes and had the engine largely covered. Bugatti developed the horizontal color split specifically for the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. History repeated itself in the summer of 2019 when Bugatti surpassed the 300 miles per hour threshold with the Chiron Super Sport 300+, achieving an incredible speed of 304.773 miles per hour (490.484 km/h). This served as the basis for a limited edition of only 30 units with a similar design and color elements.
