During the production of exclusive watches there's often a link with the automotive industry. The company Halda Sweden takes it a step further. Last weekend, an exclusive watch was unveiled in Nürburg. This watch is built for those who love watches and racing. The Nürburgring Race Pilot Limited Edition. We were present at the unveiling of this exclusive watch.
In cooperation with the famous track and Halda Watch Co. this watch will be limited to only 20 copies. The watch is based on the Halda Race Pilot which won the prestigious title Watch of the Year - Excellence Award for Design - in 2015. Numbered cases, an engraved Nürburgring logo and a unique wristband are some of the unique features of this watch. Next to that, the watch has several features which are linked to the famous track.
Race Pilot
The Race Pilot Nürburgring Limited Edition is based on the awarded Halda Concept. It's a watch with a close cooperation between racing drivers and watch engineers. The watch consists two modules, an electronic and mechanic module. For racing drivers the digital module is the perfect toy to take to the track for its useful functions. Over 150 tracks all over the world are featured by this module.
This module is the first watch in the world that's capable of measuring an average speed on a track. This is done by programming the exact details of the track. Next to that, lap times are measured and the watch is even capable of measuring two cars at the same time. Another feature is measuring the G-forces. On a track like the Nordschleife it's very interesting to get a closer look in these G-forces. Other features are an official FIA Formula 1 countdown function. In short, the Race Pilot Module is filled with technical features for those who are looking for some more information on the track.
Only twenty copies
The mechanical module is hand-built in cooperation with Zenith. The typical Swedish design of the watch is inspired by the racing world. With the Gun Metal colour the watch looks sporty and elegant at the same time. The mechanical module has a self wind-up clockwork with a power reserve function in the shape of a fuel tank. The finishing touch of the watch is doen with Côtes de Genève and Clous de Paris, these are famous motives in the world of watches.
